Kylian Mbappe has been one of the most talked-about players in recent years. What follows him on the pitch is not just hype; he follows it up with performances that put him among the best players in the world.

At just 27 years old, the French star is already a World Cup winner and has won numerous collective and individual accolades. Two years ago, he realised his childhood dream of becoming a Real Madrid player and has scored 82 goals in 92 appearances since then.

Overall, including all competitions, club and international, Mbappe has over 400 career goals. Such stats at the age of 27 are not beyond impressive. However, while the argument of him being the best player of all time is still far-fetched, the possibility of him becoming the greatest Real Madrid player seems much more realistic.

That said, in this piece, we will explore how likely Kylian Mbappe is to become the greatest Real Madrid player.

Can Kylian Mbappe surpass the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo?

While Real Madrid has been home to numerous legendary players who can lay claim to be the club’s greatest player, there is one who stands out: Cristiano Ronaldo. And surpassing Ronaldo is an enormous challenge, even if it comes down to just his stats for Real Madrid. The Portuguese scored 451 goals in 438 appearances, won five Champions Leagues and two La Ligas, among various other titles.

However, while Kylian Mbappe is just in his second season at the club, he is showing all signs of potentially surpassing Ronaldo. But that can only happen if he remains consistent and stays in the club for long enough.

Interestingly, Mbappe equaled the record held by Cristiano Ronaldo of most goals scored in a calendar year in 2025, 59. With the 27-year-old already equalling Ronaldo’s record in his two seasons at the club, chances are, he will go on to become the club’s greatest player.

That said, it will be interesting to see if Mbappe can stay consistent and eventually etch his name in the history books of Real Madrid.
