Fakhar Zaman has been given a two-match suspension as he was found guilty of ball tampering during the Pakistan Super League match. The incident took place during Lahore Qalandars’ four-wicket defeat to Karachi Kings on Sunday.
Disciplinary Action and Verdict
The decision was made after the formal hearing, presided over by the match referee Roshan Mahanama. After going through all the available evidence, the referee found Fakhar Zaman guilty of ball tampering as stated in article 41.3 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which deals with the alteration of the ball.
The severity of this offence falls into Level III (breach), so the sanctions range from one match (minimum) to two matches (maximum). Because this particular situation is regarded as a very serious offence, they imposed the maximum penalty available to them.
Details of the Ball Tampering Incident
At the start of the last over of the Karachi Kings’ run-chase, the controversy arose when on-field umpire Faisal Afridi asked Haris Rauf to give him the ball when it had previously been passed between Shaheen Shah Afridi and Fakhar Zaman.
After much discussion between the umpires, they agreed that they would replace the ball as they believed it was in a condition that had been rendered illegal.
PCB Statement and Hearing Proceedings
The PCB confirmed that they provided a reasonable opportunity for Fakhar Zaman to put forth his argument at the hearing. The key representatives from the team including the Captain, Shaheen Afridi, Team Director, Sameen Rana, and Manager, Farooq Anwar were all present at the hearing, as well.
PCB stated that the ruling was made after a thorough examination of the entirety of evidence produced in relation to the incident.

As a result of the suspension, Fakhar Zaman will not participate in two very important matches for Lahore Qalandars:
