Lewis Hamilton will have his new race engineer during the Miami GP, the latest in a series of key changes for him at Ferrari after a tough year last season.
The move will make way for Lewis Hamilton as he prepares for the 2026 season after leaving long-time engineer Riccardo Adami. Both parties had trouble finding common ground and success in 2025.
Lewis Hamilton struggled with poor finishes – Charles Leclerc finished so much higher up the leaderboard – at Ferrari in his first year there. The first two races of the 2026 project, however, have gone well so far, with Lewis already having one podium and currently sitting in 4th place after only two races of the season for the Drivers’ Championship.
Although the first two races of 2026 have yielded better overall results for both Leclerc and Hamilton, Ferrari still has not secured a permanent race engineer yet, and is currently having the senior team members split the interim duties of that position.
A new engineer confirmed from Miami
According to reports, Cedric Michel-Grosjean will take over as Lewis Hamilton’s full-time race engineer starting from the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
The French engineer joins after a lengthy stint at McLaren, where he worked across multiple roles, including as a lead trackside performance engineer.
Strong track record at McLaren
Michel-Grosjean was closely involved in the development and performance of Oscar Piastri, playing a key role during the 2025 season. His work contributed to Piastri’s race wins and McLaren’s continued success in the constructors’ championship.
His appointment is seen as a strategic move by Ferrari to stabilise Hamilton’s side of the garage and build consistency going forward.
With a break in the calendar following race cancellations, Ferrari now has time to integrate the new setup before racing resumes in Miami.
