The 2026 season of the Indian Premier League has commenced with plenty of intense matches already taking place during the league. The opening game of the IPL was played at the legendary M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore faced off against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Since that time, over 10 additional matches have already occurred, giving an indication that this season is going to be a high scoring one.
Bowlers Shine Despite Run Fest
However, bowlers have performed well in this season even though they faced many runs in their matches so far this season.
For example, the most recent match between Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings had no shortage of runs (i.e., many runs scored overall), yet both bowlers Abhinandan Singh & Krunal Pandya were able to take 2 wickets each (individually). However, both bowlers had no significant impact on the current Purple Cap standings.
Batters Dominate in RCB vs CSK Clash
In this year’s IPL 2026 season, the batters continued to rule, as was seen in the match between RCB and CSK. Bengaluru secured a victory over CSK by an impressive margin of 43 runs. Some of the notable performances were made by:
Sarfaraz Khan
Tim David
Devdutt Padikkal
Rajat Patidar

- The Delhi Capital’s Sameer Rizvi is leading with 160 runs
- Close behind him is Heinrich Klaasen with 145 runs
There is plenty of time for changes to occur since many more games are to be played.
