RCB vs LSG: During an exciting match between Royal Challengers of Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2026 season, Royal Challengers of Bengaluru (RCB) comfortably defeated the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets.

RCB chased down 147 with relative ease, scoring 149 runs for 5 wickets, due to the contributions from the top and middle order of batsmen.

Match Summary: RCB vs LSG

Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 146, which was not enough for them to win this match. The Royal Challengers of Bengaluru easily chased down the target, winning the match with a comfortable number of overs left in the innings.

  • LSG: 146 all out
  • RCB: 149/5

Result: RCB won by 5 wickets

RCB Batting Highlights

RCB was able to chase down the total because of the anchored innings of Virat Kohli with 49 runs and while other wickets fell at the other end of the innings, he created a solid base to work from.

Batsmen for RCB were as follows:

  • Virat Kohli 49 runs
  • Rajat Patidar 27 runs
  • Jitesh Sharma 23 runs

Later on in the innings, Tim David’s aggressive batting speed up the process of getting closer to winning RCB the match with no problems at all.

Key Moments in RCB’s Chase

RCB made progress in their first innings even though they were 1 out early. Throughout the first seven overs of the innings, Kohli had been outstanding in the power play by scoring several runs, including several fours.

Kohli was eventually dismissed for 49 by Avesh Khan, who also facilitated some other wickets. Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma kept the momentum going for RCB with their runs. RCB were able to win by a comfortable margin thanks to Tim David’s destructive batting in the final overs.

LSG Bowling Performance

Despite having some moments to cheer about, LSG bowlers failed at defending their poor total:

  • Avesh Khan was able to dismiss some big names, including Kohli.
  • When Prince Yadav picked up two wickets within the same over it gave RCB some pause for thought.

However, because LSG did not have a lot of runs on the board, they were unable to record any long-term pressure.

LSG Innings Recap

The batting performance of LSG was less than impressive for this match. Several players made a significant contribution but did not generate a sustainable partnership.

The top scorers from LSG included:

  • Mitchell Marsh, 40 runs
  • Mukul Choudhary, 39 runs
  • Ayush Badoni, 38 runs

With several early wickets and continued pressure from the RCB bowlers there were very few runs being scored resulting in LSG having one of the lowest first innings IPL totals for IPL 2026.

RCB Bowling Dominance

The bowling attack for RCB was exceptional in limiting the run scoring by LSG through:

  • Rasikh Salam Dar: 4 wickets
  • Bhuvneshwar Kumar: 3 wickets
  • Krunal Pandya: key wicket & 100th IPL wicket
  • Josh Hazlewood & Suyash Sharma provided valuable assistance to the other bowlers to ensure that LSG was never able to dominate the batting side during the entire innings.

Turning Point of the Match

RCB’s disciplined bowling caused LSG to collapse in the middle overs. The backbone of LSG’s batting order was broken when Rasikh Salam Dar took four wickets.

Key Stats: RCB vs LSG

  • With overs left on the clock, RCB achieved a successful hit of 147 runs as a chase.
  • 146 runs is one of the lowest totals in the first innings during IPL 2026.
  • After IPL 2025, RCB has won 7 out of 8 of their matches when they batted second as a result of chasing.

For LSG, they appear to be continuing their struggles in defending scored runs after they batted first.
