IPL 2026: The Indian Premier League(IPL) is getting more intense day by day as it enters the last phase of season 19. Once again, the most renowned young blood from Bihar, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, gained limelight. But this time the reason is quite different. Socialist activist CM Shivakumar Nayak accused Vaibav Sooryavanshi of lodging an FIR against the Rajasthan Royals franchise. He claimed that Vaibhav’s participation comes under the ‘Child labour’, sparking a debate on the entire internet. Therefore, we will figure out how strong his allegation is.
Does Vaibhav play illegally?
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi playing in the Indian Premier League is not child labour because he is a regulated professional athlete, not an exploited worker. With oversight from the Board of Control for Cricket in India and proper consent and safeguards, his participation is ethically and professionally appropriate. Hence, he can play for his franchise and further for Team India if he gets a chance to play.
CM Shivakumar Nayak alleged Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
During a debate on kannada news outlet Socialist Shivakumar alleged Vaibhav and said, ‘A 15-year-old like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, representing Rajasthan Royals, is still at a very early stage of life, and putting him into a high-pressure tournament like the IPL raises serious concerns. At that age, he should primarily be concentrating on his education, attending school, and building a balanced foundation for his future. Introducing him to top-level professional cricket so soon can be seen as pushing him into an environment meant for adults, which some may view as a form of exploitation rather than opportunity.’
Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s IPL Career
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi began his journey from Rajasthan Royals back in 2025, RR bought him at a price tag of 1 crore. In his debut match he hit six on his very first bowl, which shows his intent and approach towards the game. From then till now he has played 17 matches where he made 656 runs with explosive strike rate of 224.89 and in just 17 matches he hit 2 hundred and 3 half-centuries where his best score was 103 runs. Also he became the fastest player to score 500 runs in IPL history. The way he is playing, no doubt he will debut for the Indian team soon.
