Lucknow Super Giants had endured a tough season so far, the only positive being Prince Yadav – the young fast bowler, who created a special moment by removing Virat Kohli during the high-pressure clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Ground. Bowling to a batter he has long admired, Prince showcased his skill and composure to outsmart the former RCB captain with a clever setup.
The dismissal was a result of smart planning. Prince first delivered a ball that moved away from Kohli, forcing the veteran batter to play cautiously. Sensing the hesitation, the pacer followed it up with a sharp incoming delivery that sneaked past Kohli’s defence and rattled him completely. Kohli looked visibly surprised after losing his wicket and remained at the crease for a brief moment before making the walk back to the pavilion.
Prince Yadav put RCB under serious pressure
The breakthrough proved to be a crucial turning point for Lucknow Super Giants, who were defending a massive 213-run target. Kohli’s wicket shifted the momentum and put RCB under serious pressure during the chase.
After securing an impressive 9-run win over LSG, Prince opened up about his plan to dismiss Kohli and said that during the reverse fixture, Virat Kohli himself had given him advice on bowling in helpful conditions. According to the youngster, the RCB star had told him to consistently hit the right length whenever there was assistance on offer from the pitch.
Virat Kohli adviced Prince Yadav to hit the right length
“That was exactly the plan. In fact, after the last match, I was speaking with Virat Bhaiya (elder brother) and he himself told me this… we talked a lot after that match and he was telling me that as long as the ball is moving off the length, you shouldn’t abandon your length. That is exactly what I did, and I got the result in the form of a wicket,” Prince told broadcasters.
With the crucial win, LSG kept their IPL 2026 campaign. The win also ended their six-match losing streak and marked only their third win in 10 matches this season. However, LSG’s playoff hopes totally depend on the results going their way, and they are in contention for playoff spot mathematically
Prince also jumped to the third spot on the Purple cap list with 16 points, he will be next seen in action on May 10 against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk Stadium.
