Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, who are currently playing IPL 2026, have been rested for the upcoming white-ball tour against Pakistan and Bangladesh. Cricket Australia announced their squads for the upcoming white-ball tours of Pakistan and Bangladesh. Australia will first travel to Pakistan for a three-match ODI series, which is scheduled to start on May 30 before heading to Bangladesh for three ODIs and three T20Is from June 9.

Young talents get chance in place of Pat Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood

Australia has included young talents in the squad, with Under-19 captain Ollie Peake and uncapped all-rounder Liam Scott earning places in the ODI squad for the Pakistan series.

For the Bangladesh tour, batter Joel Davies has been picked in the T20I squad as Australia continues preparations for the next T20 World Cup and the 2028 Olympics. Pacers Riley Meredith and Billy Stanlake are expected to lead the bowling attack during the Pakistan tour.

George Bailey, Australia’s chief selector, said that in the absence of several senior players, the younger generation will get an opportunity to step up and prove themselves.

“It’s always exciting to see new players get an opportunity to play international cricket and be a part of the national team. The blend of experienced players coupled with new or returning players will provide a nice mix for these sub-continent tours.” Bailey said

Bailey further added, “Continuing to provide opportunities for players to develop across a broad range of conditions and experiences is important and will continue to be a focus over the next 18 months to two years across the calendar and with future campaigns in mind.”

Mitchel Marsh will lead the side

Mitchell Marsh, who is currently representing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026, will lead the Australian side. Cameron Green, Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, and Nathan Ellis have been included in the squad, while Glenn Maxwell, who is popularly known as one of the best T20I cricketers, has been excluded
