Finn Allen Sets Eden Gardens on Fire

When it comes to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs. Gujarat Titans (GT) match, the overwhelming main talking point will be Finn Allen’s innings of 93 runs from 35 balls which included 10 enormous sixes, starting from the very first ball of Gujarat’s first over.

He was dropped two times with each drop costing GT dearly and contributing to KKR’s record total. His innings set up KKR’s record total.

Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green Finish the Job

Angkrish Raghuvanshi & Cameron Green kept the innings speeding along after the dismissal of Allen. Raghuvanshi batted beautifully & had a wonderful knock of 82 runs from 44 balls & combined excellent shot selection with innovative shots.

Cameron Green also contributed to the KKR team at the end of the innings & had a great innings of 52 runs off 28 balls. Both batsman scoring freely in the last few overs punished the Gujarat Titans & allowed KKR to easily surpass 240 runs.

Gujarat Titans’ Fielding Collapse Hurts Big Time

The poor fielding effort for GT was one of the main contributors to their defeat. On four occasions, Gujarat Titans managed to drop catches throughout the innings, two of which were key chances from Finn Allen.

Gujarat Titans’ poor fielding set the stage for KKR’s batters to be in control of the innings and produce an enormous total.
Even more experienced bowlers such as Rashid Khan and Rabada had difficulties bowling on the batting friendly surface at Eden Gardens.

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler Fight Hard for GT

The Gujarat Titans went hard after a very large target of 248. After starting out with few runs, Sai Sudharsan went down with an elbow injury and was retired from the game due to his injury.

After that, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler formed a great partnership for the 3rd wicket they put together a partnership of 128 runs during the time they were out there, and Gill’s huge number of boundaries throughout the innings helped them stay in the game for quite a while Gill was able to continue increasing his boundary count in the middle overs, while Buttler picked up his scoring rate nicely in the middle overs as well.

The run rate continued to grow, and eventually due to the continued increase in the required run rate, the Gujarat Titans were unable to continue their offensive attack up until the end of the game.

Sunil Narine Delivers Again for KKR

Sunil Narine, a veteran spin bowler, illustrated why he has been such an integral part of KKR as a match-winning player again during his 200th IPL match.

In his four overs, he produced an outstanding effort of 2 wickets for 29 runs, taking down Nishant Sindhu and Shubman Gill at important times in the game. His ability to bowl economically in what turned out to be a 465-run contest exemplified his ability to make good use of his control and experience.

Injury Concern for KKR: Pathirana Walks Off

Kolkata Knight Riders had also discovered another worry after the large win against CSK. The Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana suffered a hammy injury while bowling during his IPL 2026 debut with KKR.

He only got through 1.2 overs before he had to leave the field in some pain, so KKR’s management will continue to monitor Matheesha’s health as they prepare for their next match.

KKR vs GT: Turning Point of the Match

Finn Allen’s powerplay performance decisively changed the course of the game due to the fact that the catches taken by GT were missed.

Allen took advantage of all the opportunities the GT bowlers offered him and turned them into momentum, at which point KKR had reached over 100 runs halfway through the innings putting significant pressure on the GT bowlers.
