Kolkata Knight Riders kept their playoff hopes alive after securing a commanding four-wicket win over the Mumbai Indians at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

However, despite winning the match, the Ajinkya Rahane-led Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a major blow as rising star Angkrish Raghuvanshi had to leave the field in the first innings, while he didn’t step onto the field while chasing.

KKR will keep their playoff qualification alive if they win their last IPL 2026 league stage match against the Delhi Capitals (DC), which is scheduled for May 24 at Eden Gardens. Meanwhile, Raghuvanshi’s availability in the do-or-die clash will be concerning for the team management, as he has been one of the crucial players in the KKR line-up. Raghuvanshi was replaced by Tejasvi Dahiya in the match as a concussion substitute after he collided with Varun Chakravarthy while trying to pull off a catch.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi to miss DC clash, what do the rules say?

As per the latest ICC rules, players who suffer a concussion need to go through a cooling-off period of 7 days, which means that Raghuvanshi will be unavailable for selection in KKR’s next IPL match against DC, which is just four days after the concussion took place.

KKR started their IPL 2026 season on a shaky note, but made a solid comeback in the second half of the tournament. However, one player who remained consistent for the team is Raghuvanshi, as he has scored a total of 422 runs at an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 146.53, which includes five half-centuries.

KKR playoff qualification scenario

Kolkata Knight Riders are currently sitting at the sixth spot with 13 points from 13 games so far. If KKR manages to secure a win in the next match against Delhi Capitals, they will end the season with 15 points.

However, for a playoff spot, KKR will hope Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals to lose against Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians in their last league stage match. RR, who are currently in the fourth spot with 14 points, will qualify directly if they emerge victorious against MI.

KKR will be keen to secure a win with a big margin because if PBKS wins against LSG, NRR will decide the playoff qualification spot.

Defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru became the first team to qualify for the playoff as they are currently at the top of the table with 18 points, followed by Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad with 16 points respectively.
