Kick-starting the Paralympics 2020 event from today onwards, the Indian Contingent Table Tennis stars will look to defeat their opponents!

Bhavana Patel’s Paralympics debut is surely not what she must have dreamt of as she lost straight sets to Zhou Ying in her opening encounter. She lost 3-11, 9-11, 2-11 to the Chinese.

Sonalben too got off to a really good start in her table tennis match against Li Qian. Sonalben loses a five-set thriller. She lost a closely fought, nail-biting encounter 2-3 against the 2016 silver medallist Li Qian.

Both the Indian Table Tennis players have lost their singles opening game. However, they will look to bounce back stronger with their upcoming games later in the tournament.

If both the players from the Indian Contingent want to make their mark and advance to the knockouts they will have to bounce back well for their next match.

Yesterday, eight-game officials and the senior management accompanied the flag bearer and Javelin Thrower Tek Chand following the quarantine of Thangavelu Mariyappan. Unfortunately, many players missed the ceremony and some were forced to due to the COVID-19 strict rules and regulations.

It will be interesting to see how the Indian Contingent performs at the Paralympics. So many people on Twitter are rooting for them!
