The stage is set for the much-awaited IPL 2026 final as the defending champion, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), face the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31. This will be the first time that both teams will face each other in an IPL final.
Rajat Patidar-led RCB, who will enter the final with a three-match winning streak, will be keen to carry their winning momentum following an impressive show in Qualifier 1, while Shubman Gill-led GT will aim to make full use of their home condition and turn the tide in their favor.
The two sides have faced each other twice this season – in the league stage in Ahmedabad and Qualifier 1 in Dharamsala. GT emerged victorious in Ahmedabad, while RCB dominated GT in the Qualifier 2 clash.
The weather in Ahmedabad has become a major talking point ahead of the final clash. With rain disrupting travel and matches in several parts of the country, fans are keeping a close eye on conditions. Gujarat Titans themselves faced travel delays on their way to the final after adverse weather impacted flights from Chandigarh. Here’s a look at the latest forecast for Ahmedabad ahead of the IPL 2026 final.
Will rain play spoilsport in the IPL 2026 Final?
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for Ahmedabad ahead of the IPL 2026 final, raising concerns about possible rain interruptions. However, the forecast isn’t all bad news for cricket fans.
The weather forecast suggests there is a low chance of rain during the match, and a full game is the most likely outcome. Although a short interruption cannot be ruled out, conditions do not currently point towards any major threat to the final.
Temperatures are expected to touch around 40°C during the day, but the weather should cool down by the time the match begins, with temperatures settling in the low 30s. Cloud cover has also been forecast throughout the evening, providing some relief from the heat and creating pleasant playing conditions for players and spectators alike.
However, the good news for fans is that if the match is washed out, the final will be deferred to a reserve day on June 1.
