Paralympics 2020: Make way for finalist Bhavina Patel, reassures India for a medal

Table Tennis Paralympics ace Bhavana Patel wins 3-2 against China’s Miao Zhang in a class 4 semifinal on Saturday.

The entire Indian Contingent participating in the Paralympics games was so happy for her. They were all taken by surprise with her fantastic performance in the semifinal showdown. Bhavana is now is all set to take on the world’s number one Chinese paddler to fight for the medal! 

Patel didn’t go well in the opening game. After which, she made a strong comeback claiming the next two games to take a 2-1 lead.

Finalist Bhavana Patel said, “If I continue with this confidence with the blessings of the people of my country, I think I will win gold tomorrow. I am ready for the final and I have to give 100 percent in the final also.” 

Paralympic Committee of India president Deepa Malik, who is also in Tokyo, was quick to congratulate Bhavinaben.

“It is sure that we can see a medal from her. Tomorrow morning’s match (semifinal) is a huge decider what color of the medal she will win,” she said in video footage on her Twitter handle.

She became the first Indian Table Tennis player to secure a medal in Paralympics 2020.

It will be interesting to see how well she goes for the finals!
