Indian cricket team will play three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting from 18th this month. There is a blow for Indian team ahead of this series as the left-handed batter and right-handed bowler Washington Sundar is likely to miss the games in Zimbabwe due to injury.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already announced the squad of India for this 3 ODIs against Zimbabwe. Washington Sundar was also the name included in the list released by BCCI. Washington Sundar suffered a shoulder injury during a List A game in Manchester, England, and faces the prospect of missing the ODIs in Zimbabwe. Due to this shoulder injury he wasn’t in the field for few months.
It was expected that Washington Sundar will recover before this Zimbabwe’s short-tour but unfortunately it didn’t happen. Washington Sundar will now fully recover before making into the squad of India. On Thursday, BCCI also announced the change in captaincy of team for this series as KL Rahul has been named captain now. Earlier, opening batter Shikhar Dhawan was going to lead the team. After this series India will play the Asia Cup, squad for which has already been announced.
