The Bangladesh cricket board has reappointed Shakib Al Hasan as the T20 captain of the Bangladesh team ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. Everyone following cricket updates knows that Bangladesh isn’t faring well in the T20 format. Bangladesh has only 2 wins in their account out of the 11 played over the last 9 months. With the dismal records the team’s lagging way behind the others competing in the Asia Cup.
Keeping in mind this current situation, Shakib Al Hasan has expressed that he has no specific goals as he takes the captaincy. Al Hasan opined that it’s a fool’s step to expect a meteoric rise in the team’s performance overnight. Talking about it, he explained, “I have no goals. My only aim is that we can do well in the World Cup and these are the preparations for it.”

“If someone thinks that I can change things within one or two days or someone else will come to change it, then we are living in a fool’s kingdom. If you are able to think practically, our true development will be seen when the team really does well in the World Cup in three months’ time”, he added.
“See, we first played this type of version (format) in 2006. Since then, we have not had good results, except the Asia Cup final. We are far behind in this version from that point so we have no choice but to make a new start,” he further added.
Despite the adversities, Bangladesh would look forward to delivering an impactful performance if not lifting the cup. “When a baby starts walking [the first] steps are very difficult but gradually things become easier and I hope that we will also be able to start walking step by step like a baby and then move forward,” Shakib Al Hasan expressed.
