The much awaited ICC T20 World Cup is set to begin in Australia on October 16, and all of the countries are prepared to compete for the title. Suryakumar Yadav’s batting might be the decisive factor for India in the World Cup tournament. Suryakumar Yadav can play in all directions, giving him more opportunities to score than the majority of other players in the Indian squad of playing XI. After his phenomenal innings against Sri Lanka in the recent T20 series, expectations from Suryakumar have definitely heightened.
Suryakumar is currently in great form on the field ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup tournament. On Monday, October 10 at the W.A.C.A. in Perth, Kumar managed to hit a magnificent fifty during the warm-up game against Western Australia. The batsman, Kumar, has been in excellent form in recent years and is anticipated to lead India’s playing XI to victory in the forthcoming World Cup. In his T20I career, Surya has played 34 matches and has scored a total of 1045* runs at a phenomenal strike rate of 176.81.
Recently, Dale Steyn applauded Suryakumar’s innings and called him the Indian version of Ab de Villiers. Steyn also called the Indian batter ‘a player to watch out for’ in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup.
“You can also get away when a bowler tries to bowl full, you can place the ball left and you can use the pace of the ball really well, given some room. So, Suryakumar is a wonderful 360-degree player, and reminds me of AB de Villiers. In my opinion, he could be India’s version of AB de Villiers and with the red-hot form that he’s in right now, he’s a player to definitely watch out for this World Cup,” Former South African cricketer, Dale Steyn mentioned.
Steyn also spoke about how the Australian grounds can actually help Surya to level up his game in the upcoming World Cup tournament. “He’s the kind of player that likes to use the pace of the ball. He likes to get in behind the square. In places like Perth, Melbourne, all of these grounds, there is a little bit of extra pace on it. So, you can use the pace, you can hit on fine leg, behind and all along the carpet. And he’s also really good when standing still and getting off the back foot. So, he’s an all-round player, and it’s in Australia, where the wickets are so good, they are batter friendly.”
