The Switzerland National Football team has been placed in ‘Group G’, alongside Cameroon, Brazil and Serbia. As per the schedule, the team will be playing against Cameroon in their opening match in Group G, which will be taking place on 23 November 2022 for the FIFA World Cup.

Team of Switzerland for FIFA World Cup

The Switzerland National Football team is often known by the Rossocrociati (Red Crosses). However, the team’s some of the memorable performances were their three quarter-final encounters in 1934, 1938, and 1954. According to reports, the team has successfully been the host of this tournament in 1954, where they competed with Austria in the quarter-final match. Their head coach Murat Yakin was appointed in the month of August 2021, who has been the manager of important clubs like Basal and Spartak Moscow, prior to Switzerland’s head coach.

By far, the team’s best ever achievement during an official football competition was when they managed to register a silver medal to their names in the Olympic Games (1924). Moreover, the team made its third appearance in the UEFA Euro 2008, where Switzerland and Austria were the co-hosts of the tournament. With a well-rounded squad as well as experienced players, Switzerland are all set for its fifth consecutive World Cup appearance this year.

The team managed to make it out of their group in the previous edition of FIFA World Cup and is perhaps expected to retain their form this time as well. However, the competition is expected to be slightly hard with such dominant competitors in the same group. But the Swiss are expected to perform well and come up with their best in the tournament.
