As the final overs of the innings arrived, it was clear that Tendulkar would score a century.

Kochi tried to chase down Mumbai’s total with one over to go, led by Brendon McCullum’s 81 and captain Jayawardene’s 56. Sachin Tendulkar, on the other hand, performed admirably in that IPL, scoring 553 runs and only losing the Orange Cap to Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli. He led Mumbai to the playoffs, but they were defeated in the second qualifier by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
