A team of four spinners from Australia has traveled to India to play. Leg spinner Mitchell Swepson and rookie Todd Murphy have been handed a shot ahead of veteran Adam Zampa, while the top-ranked Test squad in the world’s frontline spinners Nathan Lyon and Ashton Agar have retained their spots in the important series.
Murphy, who is only 22 years old, might be making his or her debut in the intense series, which will premiere on February 9 in Nagpur. Former Australian spinner Steve O’Keefe praised the off-spinner and predicted that he would become a superstar soon before the first Test match.
The future holds great things for Todd Murphy. Regarding Steve Smith, I said that in 2010. There was obviously something exceptional there. The reason I say that (about Todd Murphy) is because he has the same capacity as Nathan Lyon to cause the ball to overspin. He does, however, also possess a vast arsenal of cunning moves.
O’Keefe claimed that the off-spinner possessed a wealth of experience and that Murphy exuded confidence while also possessing excellent skills.
“You wouldn’t guess Todd Murphy is 22 when you speak to him. He is as knowledgeable about cricket as I am at age 38. He possesses a strong arsenal of abilities, exudes confidence, and can test any hitter in the world with his best ball “said O’Keefe.
The ex-player claimed that Australia might decide to team up with Lyon and Murphy at some stage during the series.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Australia used two off-spinners at some point throughout the series. Although I believe they will continue to play Ashton Agar, don’t be shocked if you see Todd Murphy and Nathan Lyon together at some point in the series “O’Keefe came to an end.
