Chelsea is possibly having their worst Premier League season in a long time. On the other hand Liverpool after having played 29 matches still placed 8th on the table and is fighting for the Europa and Champions League spot. Both, Chelsea and Liverpool according to some reports will be involved in a shock transfer swap deal in the June – September window.
Diogo Jota might be sent in the opposite direction by Liverpool, who are reportedly interested to acquire Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. The swap deal could prove to be crucial and beneficial for both teams.
Journalist Pedro Almeida of Portugal claims that a surprise trade between the two Premier League heavyweights could happen this summer. According to rumours, the Reds want to sign Mount and may throw Jota into the bargain to boost the value for the Blues.
Mason Mount has been part of the Chelsea his entire career. Mount’s contract with the Blues ends in 2024. Fabrizio Romano, a renowned transfer specialist, claims that although contract extension conversations have been ongoing for some time, no agreement has yet been achieved.
The Reds, however, have been monitoring Mount since February and are anticipated to act if he becomes available this summer. The Merseysiders are thought to be looking to add a couple of midfielders this summer in order to strengthen their midfield.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is lacking a capable centre-forward. The fact that Kai Havertz has become their top scorer this season despite only having nine goals overall in all competitions presents a dismal picture of their struggles in front of goal. This summer, they’re anticipated to add a new forward, and the chance to get Jota might tempt them. Since joining Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Portugal star has scored 34 goals and collected 16 assists in 104 games across all competitions.
The 2023-24 season will be crucial for both clubs as they will look to bounce back. Chelsea is still in the contest for UEFA Champions League this season, but it looks highly likely the London club will be knocked out of the competition. Real Madrid has already won the quarter-final home leg against the Blues. Chelsea will have to produce something special at Stamford Bridge to challenge the undisputed kings of the Champions League.
