Before Sachin Tendulkar passed him in 2005, he had long held the record for the most centuries in Test matches. With his 30th Test tonne, Gavaskar beat out Australian legend Don Bradman to set the record. With 34 centuries at the end of his Test career.

Most hundreds vs. West Indies
West Indies had a strong lineup during the 1970s and 1980s. Despite having a strong bowling attack, they continued to be Gavaskar’s favourite team when it came to scoring runs. In the 27 Test matches he played against them, he scored 13 centuries. Only Sir Don Bradman is ahead of him on the list of “Most centuries against one team in Test cricket.”
