James Ward-Prowse, an England international, has officially joined West Ham United from Southampton, the Premier League club confirmed on Monday.
The 28-year-old will wear No. 7 for the Hammers after moving from Southampton for an undisclosed amount and signing a deal that runs through June 2027.
Ward-Prowse, who has received 11 England caps, has played his whole professional career for Southampton, appearing in 410 games across all competitions, 343 of which were Premier League games. Only four players in the League who are currently active have more appearances.
The midfielder has contributed 38 assists along with 49 goals. He presently falls short of David Beckham’s competition-record 18 goals from free kicks.
“From the outside looking in, this is a club that has been on the rise for a number of years now and coming off the success in the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, you can feel there is real momentum around this club,” Ward-Prowse told the club’s official website.
“When I think about my game, it is based on hard work, graft, and giving 100 per cent. West Ham United has always been a Club that has epitomises that. You can feel that from the fans and you can see it in the players who are here and the lads that have come through the Academy too,” he added.
