In a Group B clash at the Mohun Bagan ground, Jamshedpur FC secured their first victory in the ongoing 132nd Durand Cup by defeating the Indian Navy Football Team (INFT) with a score of 1-0. Ashley Koli emerged as the standout player of the match, delivering a crucial header that led to the decisive goal in the 70th minute.

Facing the Indian Navy’s spirited challenge, Jamshedpur FC showed determination, making strategic changes compared to their previous match. Manager Steven Dias introduced two wingers upfront instead of the usual 4-3-3 formation, reflecting the team’s adaptability.

Ashley and Sadhu Marandi displayed impressive intent for Jamshedpur, while experienced players like P.M Britto and Pintu Mahata posed threats for the Indian Navy team. The match exhibited end-to-end action right from the start, with both teams vying for dominance.

Despite the open play, the first substantial opportunity arose in the 26th minute, when Jamshedpur’s captain S.K. Sahil had a free header chance, but he couldn’t find the target. The Indian Navy showcased a 64% possession in the first half but struggled to convert it into significant chances.

In the second half, Jamshedpur’s Ashley continued to shine, initiating several promising moves. However, the game-changer arrived in the 70th minute when Ashley’s header found the back of the net, thanks to a well-executed corner kick and assistance from Rosangzuala.

Although Ashley had an opportunity to extend the lead in the 80th minute, his shot hit the roof of the net. Despite the referee’s decision to add seven minutes of injury time, the scoreline remained unchanged, securing Jamshedpur FC’s deserving victory.

The win marks an important milestone for Jamshedpur FC in the ongoing Durand Cup, highlighting their resilience and teamwork on the field.
