A look at the average salary of Bangladeshi cricketers based on category grade

The Bangladesh Cricket Board oversees the Tigers, the men’s national cricket team of Bangladesh (BCB). It has Test, ODI, and T20 International (T20I) status and is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Bangladesh participated in its maiden Test match in November 2000 against India in Dhaka, losing by a score of 9 wickets. Bangladesh participated in six ICC Trophies, the premier ODI competition for nations who do not play Test cricket, after becoming an associate member of the ICC in 1977.

Surprisingly, given that the majority of the board had opted to lower player compensation owing to the Covid-19 epidemic, the BCB has agreed to enhance the salary of Bangladesh cricketers for the 2019 season. The Bangladesh squad competes in Test, ODI, and T20I matches. BCB is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The 17 players who received Central Contracts from BCB are broken down into the following categories: Category A+, Category A, Category B, and Rookie. A match price of BDT 3 lakh for tests, BDT 2 lakh for ODIs, and BDT 1.25 lakh for T20Is would be paid to each cricketer in the playing XI in addition to central contracts. The match salary for Bangladesh’s captain is BDT 20,000.

The Bangladeshi cricketers are compensated based on the category grade to which they belong. All of the Bangladeshi athletes fall within the A+, A, B, C, and D categories. 17 cricket players have contracts with BCB. The vice-captain of the Bangladeshi squad receives an additional 10,000/- TK, and the skipper receives 20,000/- TK more than the other team members. In contrast, every Bangladeshi cricketer makes a fortune from ODI and Test matches. Each Bangladeshi cricket player receives a match fee of Rs. 3 lahks for an international test, Rs. 2 lakh for an ODI, and Rs. 1 lakh for a T20 cricket event. Players received unique prizes for their efforts in addition to matching costs. A hundred, a five-wicket haul, a half-century, a Man of the Match, and maximum sixes are a few examples.

Category A+ BDT 4 lakh/month
Category A BDT 3 lakh/month
Category B BDT 2 lakh/month
Category C BDT 1 lakh/month

 

Four players, including captain Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan, are rated “A+.” Mahmudullah Riyad, however, only had one player in the “A” tier. While there are a total of five players in grade “B.” Despite having two and three players, respectively, in grades “C” and “D.” Every Bangladesh cricketer makes between 50 and 60 lakhs per year, according to Sri Biren Sikder, the state minister for youth and sports of Bangladesh. The pay of the players has increased by 10% to 20%, but the specific amount has not yet been announced by the BCB and varies from player to player.
