Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has etched his name in history by achieving the highest-ever rating points in ICC men’s T20I rankings. After his standout performance against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup on September 26 in Dubai, he reached an astonishing 931 rating points.
This milestone broke a five-year-old record held by England’s Dawid Malan, who had climbed to 919 points at his peak back in December 2020.
A Near-Perfect Asia Cup
In the ICC’s latest rankings release, Abhishek Sharma sits at 926 points, slightly down after a rare failure in the Asia Cup final where he scored just 5 runs from 6 balls against Pakistan. But before that, he was in red-hot form, smashing three consecutive half-centuries along with three more scores above 30 in the tournament.
He finished as the tournament’s top scorer with 314 runs in seven innings at a blistering strike rate of exactly 200.

Career Numbers That Speak Volumes
Even though Abhishek Sharma is only 24 matches into his international career, his numbers are already eye-catching. He has piled up 849 runs at an average of 36.91 and a strike rate of 196.07. That includes two centuries and five fifties.
He began the Asia Cup already ranked No. 1, and now he leaves with a record that will be extremely tough for his rivals to surpass.
