The Indian cricket team made a stellar comeback in the 2nd T20I match of the ongoing 5-match T20I series on July 7th, Sunday at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. The young and very talented Abhishek Sharma registered his maiden T20 century in a match-winning cause for India against Zimbabwe’s national cricket team in the 1st T20I match of the ongoing 5-match series.
Abhishek Sharma, playing just his second T20I match, smashed seven fours and eight sixes at a strike rate of over 200. In the process, Abhishek broke several records, previously held by some of the game’s legends.
The Indian cricket team won the toss and elected to bat first. All thanks to Abhishek’s 47-ball century, the Indian cricket team put up a total of 234-2 on the scoreboard. Captain Shubman Gill was dismissed cheaply for just 2 runs, however, Abhishek and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 137 runs for the second wicket.
Ruturaj Gaikwad added 77* off 47. The left-handed batter reached his maiden international century with 3 consecutive sixes. On the other hand, Ruturaj smashed an unbeaten knock of 77 runs off 47 balls.

Notably, Rohit Sharma, who recently announced his retirement from the shortest format of the game after India’s T20 World Cup victory, also registered his first international century against Zimbabwe.
Not just this, like Abhishek, Rohit Sharma also brought up a century with a stunning six. Rohit and Abhishek, both batters reached the triple-figure mark by slamming a stunning maximum.

Speaking about his performance, Abhishek Sharma said “I think it was a pretty good performance by me, the defeat we had yesterday, it wasn’t easy for us. I felt today it was my day and I made it count. I feel T20 is about momentum and I took it to the end.”
Further, Abhishek thanked captain Shubman Gill and the coaches of the Indian team especially head coach VVS Laxman. He said:
“Special mention to the coaches, captains, and the team management to keep confidence. I always feel that as a youngster if it’s your day, you have to express yourself.”
Abhishek Sharma spoke about his partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad, he said:
“We were talking after every over and he (Ruturaj) said to me that you should take it on. I always believe in my ability, if it’s in my arc and even if it’s the first ball, I will go after it.”
