The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team based in Kansas City, Missouri. They are members of the American Football Conference (AFC) and compete in the National Football League (NFL) (NFL). Established in 1960 as one of the AFL’s original eight franchises, the Texans’ original home was in Dallas. 1962, 1966, and 1969 Kansas City Chiefs were the first AFL team to win an AFL-NFL World Championship Game, defeating the Minnesota Vikings. The New York Jets were the first AFL team to beat an NFL team in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The Chiefs/Texans won 87 games throughout the decade of the AFL’s existence (1960-1969).
In 1960, when the Texans first took the field, their logo featured a white rendition of the Lone Star State with a yellow star atop it to indicate Dallas as the team’s home stadium. While Hunt initially requested orange and blue for the Texans’ uniforms, Bud Adams ultimately settled on blue and scarlet for his Houston Oilers. Even though the Texans now play in Kansas City, the team’s original colours of red and gold have always remained the same.
The Chiefs debuted their first-ever all-red outfit (red jersey and red pants) in their home opener on September 15, 2013, against the Dallas Cowboys. Their all-red uniforms have been so popular that they’ve been utilized several times. Typically, this is when people in the United States watch evening games on television. The Chiefs’ Color Rush uniforms, which are all red, were inspired by this style.

The talented Chiefs improved under new coach Andy Reid in 2013, winning 11 games and making the playoffs. After losing its playoff opener, the team’s postseason winless streak reached 20 years. The Chiefs won a division title in 2016 after winning 12 games, although they fell again in the playoffs. In 2017, Kansas City won another division title but lost their first playoff game. The Chiefs won an NFL-best 14 regular-season games in 2020. In the postseason, the Chiefs narrowly overcame the Cleveland Browns. Then they defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFC championship game to proceed to a second consecutive Super Bowl, where they lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kansas City Chiefs History:
- From 1960 to 1962, the club was known as the Dallas Texans and competed in the American Football League. Owner Lamar Hunt relocated the team to Kansas City in 1963, changing the team’s name to the Chiefs.
- The Chiefs dominated the American Football League in the 1960s, winning three titles to establish themselves as the league’s dominant franchise. Also, in 1970, they beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7 to win the inaugural Super Bowl.
- Since 1972, the Kansas City Chiefs have called Arrowhead Stadium home, and it has since been recognized as one of the world’s finest arenas due to its comfortable seating and top-notch acoustics.
- Patrick Mahomes, a quarterback, was selected tenth overall by the Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft. After a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the 2020 Super Bowl, they secured their second championship in franchise history.
