In a commanding display of cricket, Afghanistan secured an eight-wicket triumph over Pakistan during the World Cup 2023 clash. The Afghan openers started their chase of Pakistan’s 283 runs with vigor, both Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran reaching their individual fifties.
Despite their strong start, Pakistan’s hopes were dashed when Shaheen Afridi broke through by dismissing Gurbaz. However, Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan pushed their team’s score to 282/7 with a flurry of boundaries in the final overs.
Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad played a pivotal role by claiming three crucial wickets, disrupting Pakistan’s batting order. Notably, he dismissed Pakistan’s skipper, Babar Azam, who was attempting to accelerate the run rate in the final overs.
