Alexander Zverev celebrated his birthday with a stunning victory at the Munich Open 2025, clinching his third title with a commanding victory of 6-2, 6-4 over Ben Shelton. The milestone not only marked his 24th career title but also his third Munich Open title, which equaled the record for most Munich crowns alongside Philipp Kohlschreiber.
He entered the final as the top seed and home favorite and lived up to the expectations since the very first serve. The Munich Open 2025 was significant due to its debut as an ATP 500 event. Alexander Zverev’s victory ensured that not only does he now remain tied for the most Munic Open titles, but also became the first champion of the tournament as the ATP 500 event. Reflecting on this occasion, Alexander Zverev said, “It’s extremely special, I always love winning tournaments in Germany. It’s probably the most special thing I can do. It’s definitely a great birthday present, let’s put it that way.”
“I definitely knew I had to play my best tennis today, Ben has been playing extremely well this week,” added Zverev. “The conditions suit him extremely well, it’s very hot and very fast. They suit me as well, to be fair. I enjoyed my birthday so far,” he added about his competition with Ben Shelton.
