If she manages to continue her form and win the tournament, she would end a nearly two-deade drought for US women’s singles skaters at the World Championship and would become the first American woman figure skating world champion since 2006.

Alysa Liu has had a long history of making records as she became the youngest person to win an individual title at the US figure skating championships at the age of just 13. She also competed at the Beijing Olympics 2022 and won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Championships.

She was also the first American junior skater to land a triple Axel in international competition and the first US woman to execute a quadruple jump. Alysa Liu also became the first woman globally to land both a quadruple jump and a triple Axel in a single program.

However, despite her impeccable achievements, she took retirement from her career at the age of 16, where she explained that she was “satisfied” with her career and “done” with her goals. But as it turns out, that was not the end of Alysa Liu, and she’s back with a much stronger mindset. She said on Thursday, “I think that I have good intuition, and I have learned to trust it. I don’t think that I would be where I am right now if I had not listened to myself. Others told me that I was making a mistake, but I knew that I was doing what was right for me.”
