Alyssa Healy Out of WBBL Season Due to Finger Injury
Sydney Sixers’ Alyssa Healy ruled out of the Women’s Big Bash League season due to a finger injury caused by a dog bite.
Alyssa Healy, the wicketkeeper for the Sydney Sixers and Australia’s vice-captain, will sit out the entire Women’s Big Bash League season due to a finger injury. The injury occurred when one of her puppies bit her right index finger while she was attempting to separate them at home, resulting in a severe laceration that necessitated immediate surgery.
Healy expressed her disappointment, stating, “This is not the news I was hoping for because I love playing in the WBBL and I love the Sydney Sixers.” She is focused on making a full recovery and aims to return to the game when the time is right. In the meantime, she plans to support the Sixers squad and the club as they continue in the competition.

Healy’s playing return will be determined over the next few weeks as she progresses through her rehabilitation, and she faces a race against time to be fit for Australia’s tour of India in December.
Meg Lanning, who had been Australia’s captain, was ruled out of the Ashes series and subsequent ODI series in Ireland due to medical reasons, and remains unavailable for selection based on Cricket Australia’s medical team’s assessment.
