American Cup 2025 is a major chess tournament that started on 15 March at the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis, Missouri. This prestigious tournament offers a total prize pool of $400,000 and features both an open and a women’s bracket. The tournament features two separate brackets for both the Open and Women’s sections, where players compete in classical games followed by rapid and blitz playoffs if required.
The event features some of the top-ranked players, including Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura, who recently featured in the Freestyle Chess Tournament. A total of eight players are participating in the Open category, these players are: Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian, Wesley So, Leinier Dominguez, Sam Sevian, Ray Robson, and Abhimanyu Mishra.
