Carlo Ancelotti set to exclude Real Madrid megastar from Brazil squad

Superstar forward Vinicius Jr. had Carlo Ancelotti as his strongest supporter during his tenure as Real Madrid manager.

The attacker’s quick ascent to prominence was largely attributed to the renowned tactician, so it was only natural that the 25-year-old would be a crucial component of Ancelotti’s plans when he took over as coach of the Brazilian national team this summer.

Ancelotti to leave Vinicius for upcoming matches

But according to GE Globo, Ancelotti has chosen to leave Vinicius out of the Brazil team for their September games against Chile and Bolivia.

According to FIFA regulation, the head coach of Selecao is said to have sent the preliminary call-up list to clubs.

While his colleagues Rodrygo and Eder Militao are once again in the running to be called up, the Real Madrid star will be granted a break. The announcement of the final squad is scheduled for Monday, August 25.

Vinicius, who scored the game-winning goal in June’s 1-0 victory over Paraguay to guarantee Brazil’s spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was given his second yellow card of the season and will miss the match against Chile.

In light of the circumstances, the coaching staff has also decided to give him a break for the match against Bolivia, which will take place at the severe 4,100-meter elevation of El Alto.

Ancelotti thinks it will be better for Brazil and Real Madrid if the 25-year-old forward stays healthy for the remainder of the season.

However, Rodrygo and Militao, who were unable to make the June call-ups because of various problems, have returned to the pre-list and are anticipated to play against Bolivia and Chile.

Now fully healed from his second ACL surgery, Militao is a reliable member of Ancelotti’s team and is largely regarded as a crucial backbone of Brazil’s World Cup defense.
