Andrade is officially no longer part of WWE, ending months of rumors and backstage issues that finally led to his quiet exit. Reports from several outlets confirm that a mix of reasons contributed to this decision, making it one of the more surprising departures in recent times.
The first news of his release was shared by Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, with other trusted sources later confirming the same.
According to BodySlam, Andrade had been distancing himself from the company for weeks. He reportedly skipped house shows during WWE’s European Tour and even missed scheduled creative meetings. At one point, he was set to team with Rey Fenix to face The Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Championships at Clash in Paris, and there were even talks that they could win. His absence, however, forced WWE to change plans.
Fans also noticed his absence from SmackDown last week, where Rey Fenix challenged Sami Zayn for the United States Championship. While Fenix getting a singles shot looked normal at first, it now seems connected to Andrade’s situation.
Creative Frustrations and Policy Concerns
Behind the scenes, Andrade’s long-standing frustration with WWE’s creative direction appears to be one of the biggest reasons for his departure. Similar issues had been part of his decision to leave AEW before returning to WWE. This time, instead of negotiating over storylines he wasn’t happy with, Andrade reportedly chose to walk away completely.
Adding to the situation, there are reports suggesting Andrade may have violated WWE’s Wellness Policy. It is not clear if that was the direct trigger for his release or just another factor adding to the growing tension. WWE has not released a public statement, and Andrade has remained silent on the matter as well.
What raised eyebrows further was Andrade’s quiet move to the “Archive” section of WWE’s website, which usually signals that a wrestler is no longer active with the company. Later, Sports Illustrated’s Jon Alba confirmed that this was not a mutual decision but a disciplinary release. Reports also state that Andrade was sent home from a SmackDown taping a few weeks ago, showing that problems had been brewing for some time.
The Charlotte Flair Factor
Another layer to this story is Andrade’s personal life. He and WWE star Charlotte Flair finalized their divorce last year. While there is no evidence of politics or bad blood influencing his WWE status, it is worth noting that Charlotte was a key part of Andrade’s earlier return to the company. With that relationship no longer present, one of his biggest reasons to stick with WWE may have faded.
What’s Next for Andrade?
Now that Andrade has left WWE, the big question is where he goes from here. His options in North America are limited. AAA is now owned by WWE, and TNA has a working partnership with them. AEW and ROH don’t look like likely destinations either unless fences are mended.
CMLL could be an option, as Andrade has the star power to be a top name there if given the chance. However, the most exciting possibility may lie in Japan. Andrade has already held the IWGP Intercontinental Championship before, and a return to Japan could not only revive his career but also bring fresh energy to the Japanese wrestling scene.
