André Onana, a goalkeeper for Ajax Amsterdam and a former member of the Cameroonian national team, has played for his country’s side. His lifelong passion has been football since he was a young boy. He was born on April 2, 1996, in Nkol Ngok, Cameroon. He began his professional career at 13 when he signed with FC Barcelona after attending the Samuel Eto’o Academy in Douala. Over five years, he was also a part of the La Masia young academy. As a senior, he participated in all six UEFA Youth League games for Group F in the 2014–15 season.

Initially signed by Ajax Amsterdam in 2015 for €150,000, his contract was set to expire on June 30, 2018, but was recently extended until June 30, 2021. Andre played his first game for Ajax 2 in February 2015, a 1-2 loss to Willem II Tilburg at home. After that, he played 39 games for Jong Ajax in the league before being promoted to Ajax’s senior squad. He first played for the Cameroon national team on September 6, 2016, at Limbe, against the Gabon national team in an international friendly, which Cameroon won by 2-1.
