Why Anup Kumar Has Been Removed As Patna Pirates’ Head Coach?

According to the latest reports, Patna Pirates have parted ways with coach Anup Kumar after the conclusion of the league.

One of the reasons for Kumar’s removal could be his sub-par performance as a coach. Pirates had roped in him ahead of the Season 12. Under his guidance, the team won only 2 out of the 9 matches and were placed at the bottom of the table with just three wins in 13 matches.

There were reports that Kumar had made his exit from the team mid-way during the tournament. The management then announced that Anup had temporarily left the team and returned home due to personal reasons.

Patna not only made it to the top 8 after five consecutive wins but also carried their momentum into the knockouts, registering three straight triumphs and eliminating several strong contenders along the way.

Considered one of the greatest captains of his time, Anup Kumar has won the Kabaddi World Cup, Asian Games, and one PKL title. He also coached Puneri Paltan in Seasons 7 and 8. After that, he ceased to be associated with PKL until Patna Pirates signed him as their head coach for Season 12.
