Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly moved to the top of Arsenal’s transfer shortlist who will lock horns with Manchester United who hold the advantage in the race to sign him.
Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly moved to the top of Arsenal’s transfer shortlist
According to The Athletic, Arsenal have conveyed a “strong interest” in Viktor Gyokeres and may pursue the Sporting CP forward in the summer. Andrea Berta, the new sporting director of Arsenal, is a big fan of the 26-year-old, who is thought to be a more agreeable target than Alexander Isak of Newcastle United. Even though Gyokeres has a deal with Sporting through June 2028, it’s generally accepted that his value is significantly less than Isak’s, who may fetch interested clubs up to £150 million.
Gyokeres is becoming the Gunners’ main target after scoring 85 goals in 92 games for Sporting CP. His deal with the Portuguese team is set to expire in 2028.
He has netted 42 goals in his last 42 games along with 11 assists
Gyokeres this season has been on a remarkable scoring run and has netted 42 goals in his last 42 games along with 11 assists. He has been in machine mode for Sporting CP and is keen on finishing the season on a high with them.

According to Record Portugal, Gyokeres might be significantly less expensive than Alexander Isak because he could leave Sporting for between £58.6 million and £62.8 million (€70 million and €75 million) under a departure deal.
Berta’s arrival was formally confirmed earlier on Sunday, thus it appears that important transfer decisions are being made quickly. With a deal for Martin Zubimendi to arrive from Real Sociedad, another of those appears to be in midfield.
The Gunners have appointed Andrea Berta as their new sporting director
The 53-year-old replaces Edu, who left his role with the Gunners last November. Edu’s deputy Jason Ayto had been filling the role as interim sporting director.
“I am thrilled to be joining Arsenal in what is a hugely exciting period for the club,” Berta told the official club website.
“I have watched with great interest the way Arsenal has evolved in recent years and I have admired the hard work that has gone into reestablishing the club as a major force in European football with a passionate following around the world.
“The club has great values and a rich history, and I am looking forward to playing my part in shaping a successful future with a great team.
“I cannot wait to get started in my new role and I am really looking forward to experiencing my first game at Emirates Stadium together with our supporters.”
We are delighted to announce that Andrea Berta is joining the club as Sporting Director.
