Arsenal beat AFC Wimbledon 3-0 at Emirates Stadium in the third round of the Carabao Cup to go through into the round of 16.

Lacazette opened the scoring for the home team in an 11th-minute penalty. Gabriel Martinelli was brought down in the penalty area after an unwise challenge on him. Lacazette coolly slotted the ball to give Arsenal the lead. It was Lacazette’s second goal in the competition. Lacazette is rumored to be very close to leaving the club.

Nketiah almost doubled the lead in front of the goal after the goalkeeper spilled a cross from the corner kick. Meanwhile, Partey’s long-range effort just could not enter the net after a brilliant save from the keeper.

Arsenal put Wimbledon under a lot of pressure throughout the game. subsequently, in the 77th minute Arsenal got their second goal after Emile Smith Rowe stabbed the ball into the back of the net from close range. The goal came after yet another brilliant team play from Arsenal.

Eddie Nketiah completed the mauling three minutes later with a brilliant backheel flick to open his account for this season.

Arsenal’s win sees them go into the 4th round of the competition. The gunners have won their last three games after a poor start to the season.

Arsenal previously beat West Bromwich Albion 6-0 in the second round of the competition. With three wins in a row, Arteta could breathe a little bit. However, Arsenal could not dwell on the wins as they face a real test this weekend. They face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at home in the North-London derby.
