The 2025 Artistic Swimming European championships is scheduled from 2 to 5 June in Funchal, Portugal, marking a prelude to the Artistic Swimming World Cup Super Final and the world championships in Singapore.
A total of 136 athletes – including 11 men – from 21 countries will take part for the continental glory. The Championships will be held at the Penteada Olympic Swimming Pools Complex.
Italy is fielding the largest team that comprises 16 athletes, followed by Spain with 14 competitors. Five nations have selected 12 artistic swimmers – Ukraine, Great Britain, France, Greece and Israel.
Austria’s Alexandri sisters- Anna-Maria, Eirini Marina, and Vasiliki will also be hoping to make the most of it. The two eldest siblings came fourth in the duet competition at Paris 2024. Vasiliki, voted as best female artistic swimmer for 2024 in the European Aquatics Awards, who will look to defend her solo free routine title.
Britain’s Ranjuo Tomblin, the 2024 men’s solo free gold medallist, will contest both this and the men’s solo technical event at 2025 Artistic Swimming European championships .
Artistic Swimming European Championships: Spain’s The Team To Beat
Spain’s Dennis Gonzalez will be bidding to defend his title in the men’s solo technical event and mixed duet technical crown with Mireia Hernandez. He will also feature in the mixed team acrobatic and free routines.
One of the strong favourites, the Spanish team is the same that won nine medals (including five gold) at the last World Cup in Markham, Canada, and keeps the core that claimed bronze at Paris 2024.
