The second-oldest stadium in India is called Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium, and it is situated in Delhi, the nation’s capital. It is named after the late lawyer and politician from India, Arun Jaitley. He served as the Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister for the Indian Government from 2014 to 2019. The location is run by the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA). The venue has a capacity of 55,000 spectators at once.

History
Due to its proximity to the Feroz Shah Kotla, a castle constructed by Sultan Feroz Shah Tughlaq in 1883, the area was named Feroz Shah Kotla. Back then, the ground was referred to as “Kotla,” which means “fortress,” by the locals.
When the West Indies visited India for a five-match series in 1948, the stadium played host to its first Test match. The match, which lasted from November 14 to November 18, was tied. On September 15, 1982, the field hosted its first ODI, in which India easily defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets.
On March 23, 2016, Afghanistan and England squared off in this location for the first T20 International, which England ultimately won by a score of 15 runs.
At a celebration at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on September 12, 2019, the cricket stadium was renamed Arun Jaitley Stadium after 136 years in Arun Jaitley’s honour. This was a choice made by him because he was the former vice president of the BCCI and the former president of the DDCA. The statue of Arun Jaitley will be unveiled at the newly renamed stadium on December 28th of the following year by Home Minister Amit Shah.
