Whereas, for Sabalenka this is her first-ever US Open semi-final and the second consecutive Grand Slam semi-final having reached the Wimbledon 2021 women’s singles semi-final in July. Where she lost to Karolina Pliskova in three sets, she then reached a career-high ranking of World No.3 after her performance at Wimbledon.

As a result, Sabalenka will next face Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, 19, in the 2021 US Open Women’s Singles Semi-final on 10th September, Friday.

However, her next opponent had an amazing spell defeating top-ranked players like Naomi Osaka, the defending champion, Angelique Kerber, and Elina Svitolina in back-to-back matches.
