Aryna Sabalenka storms into the French Open 2026 quarterfinals after showcasing pure dominance over fellow four-time Grand Slam Champion Naomi Osaka. The World No.1 looked strong in front of Osaka as she won 7-5, 6-3 in the first women’s night-session match on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Sabalenka will next take on Russian left-hander Diana Shnaider, who will head into the match after beating former Australian Open winner Madison Keys 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.
The Belarusian will be keen to clinch the Women’s Singles draw at the Roland Garros as she will aim to secure her maiden title on the Persian Clay, and forget the painful memory of her final last year to Coco Gauff.
“I didn’t expect I would serve that great. I feel like I’m getting better and better with every match I play and overall I’m super happy with how I played today.” said Sabalenka, who has reached a total of 14 consecutive major tournament quarterfinals.
Naomi Osaka, once again dazzling in the sparkling gold dress, saw her strongest-ever showing in Paris come to an end in the round of 16.
Aryna Sabalenka registered her third straight win over Naomi Osaka
Aryna Sabalenka claimed a tight opening set that was mostly dictated by strong serving, following early exchanges of breaks, thanks to a decisive break in the 11th game. She then took control of the second set, storming back from 3-2 down by winning the final four games in a row to register her third straight win over Osaka this season.
Austrian 28th seed Anastasia Potapova was unable to build on her victory against defending champion Gauff, squandering two opportunities to serve out the match before falling to Anna Kalinskaya 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (10/7). The Russian will face Polish qualifier Maja Chwalinska in the next round, after Chwalinska extended her impressive run with a straightforward 6-3, 6-2 win over Diane Parry, the last remaining French player in the tournament.
