The Asian Games 2023 seeding competition for Central and South Asian nations ended on Thursday in Macau, and the Indian League of Legends esports squad came out on top in all three of its matches. In the two-day seeding competition, Team India defeated Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. The impressive performance in Macau guaranteed India a favourable seeding in the 2018 Asian Games, which are set to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.

On the first day of the tournament, India defeated Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan by scores of 2-0 before defeating Kyrgyzstan by the same margin on the final matchday. It was a best-of-three format for all of the matches.

Akshaj Shenoy (Kai) served as the team captain for the Indian League of Legends squad. The other members of the team were Samarth Arvind Trivedi (CrankO), Mihir Ranjan (Lotus), Sanindhya Malik (Deadcorp), Aakash Shandilya (Infi), and Aditya Selvaraj (Crow).

The five-person esports squad qualified for the League of Legends competition at the Asian Games 2023 by winning the National Esports Championships (NESC), which was run by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). Nineteen of the continent’s finest League of Legends teams will compete at the Asian Games in 2023.

The gold medal and bronze medal matches will be played in a best-of-five format, whilst all matches up until the final will be played in a best-of-three format.
