The semi-final of Astana Open 2022 tournament is expected to take place on 8th of October (Saturday) at Astana, Kazakhstan. After all the rounds, and interesting matches now it’s time for the semi-final which will be taking place between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev. It is predicted to be a hardy and exciting match, as the round will be in between World’s no 6 (Stefanos Tsitsipas) and World’s no 9 Andrey Rublev, as per the records. However, both the players have managed to show their stunning performance in the previous rounds.
The Greek player, Tsitsipas achieved an excellent victory over Hubert Hurkacz in the quarterfinals round, which took place in Astana. He faced five set points against his competitor in the beginning set. Still, he was able to keep up the performance to gain the first set 7-6 (8). Though, he managed himself from losing a set in the Kazakh capital but was made to fight in order to secure a sole break in the final moments of the match after the Pole refused him eight other breakpoints. Finally, he settled the score 7-6 (8), 6-3 to proceed to his ninth semifinal of the season.
On the other hand, the Russian player Andrey Rublev showcased his incredible performance throughout the Astana Open tournament of 2022. He managed to win over the three previous encounters of the tournament. As in the beginning round, Rublev defeated Laslo Djere 6-4, 6-3 and in the second one, he knocked out Zhizhen Zhang 6-3, 6-3. Ultimately, at quarterfinals he beats Adrian Mannarino with an excellent 6-1, 6-2 victory to progress into his eighth semifinal of the current year.
The duo has been witnessed competing earlier in the past at various matches. Most recently they faced each other at the Madrid Open of 2022. Both of them are expected to showcase their extraordinary skills in the semi-final, as all gear up for the exciting match of the tournament.
