10 Min Read

The Brussels Diamond League took place on Friday (22 August). This was the final round of the 2025 season of the Diamond League ahead of the Finale in Zurich in September.

Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and two-time shot-put world champion Chase Jackson dominated the track and the field, respectively.

Jefferson-Wooden ruled the track in the women’s 100m to remain unbeaten in the short-sprint event this season.

On the other hand, Jackson was in top form in the shot put circle as she registered a meeting-record of 20.90 metres in her third attempt in Brussels.

Canada’s Sarah Mitton finished second with a throw of 19.89m, with Jessica Schilder taking third place with 19.58m at Brussels Diamond League.

US champion Jacory Patterson took the men’s 400m title in a time of 44.05 seconds to beat compatriot and Olympic relay gold medallist Vernon Norwood (44.62).

World 10km record holder Agnes Jebet Ngetich fell short of breaking the world record in the women’s 5000m, falling short of the mark.

Ngetich crossed the finish line in e in 14 minutes and 24.99 seconds (14:24.99)- off her personal best of 14:01.29, which ranks as the third-fastest 5000m time in history.

Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet’s world record of 14:09.82 from last month remained safe.

Likina Amebaw of Ethiopia finished second in 14:31.51 with compatriot Aleshign Baweke rounding out the podium with 14:31:88.

In the men’s 1500m,  Dutchman Niels Laros made a devastating kick with less than 200 metres to go. In the end, he won by a comfortable margin, stopping the clock in a season’s best of 3:30.58.

Kenyan teenager Phanuel Koech took the second place in 3:31.41. Olympic bronze medallist Yared Nuguse settled for third in 3:31.51.

In the men’s discus throw, Jamaica’s Ralford Mullings proved to be a giant killer claiming his Diamond League victory with a best 69.66m.

He beat world record-holder Mykolas Alekna (68.82m) into second place with former world champion Kristjan Ceh finishing third with a throw of 67.13m at Brussels Diamond League.

Germany’s star Julian Weber threw the javelin just short of 90 metres to hold off a star-studded lineup to claim the top step of the podium at Brussels Diamond League. Weber’s fourth-round launch of 89.65m beat Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott (86.30m) and two-time world champion Anderson Peters (85.17m) into second and third place, respectively.

Winfred Yavi won the mile steeplechase which made its debut at this level at the Brussels meeting with the Olympic champion over the 3000m distance crossing the finish line in 4:40.13.
