About Uniform

Red, black, silver, and white are the Atlanta Falcons’ colors. The Falcons’ first set of uniforms, which they wore in 1966, featured red helmets with a black falcon crest emblem. The helmet had a central black stripe that was encircled by two gold stripes, two white stripes, and one black stripe. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (white and gold) and the Georgia Bulldogs were represented by these colours as the two college rival schools in the state of Georgia (red and black). Even if the gold was taken out after a few seasons, the white is still there. They were dressed in white jerseys and white or black slacks. The falcon crest insignia was initially also applied to the jersey sleeves, but it was later changed to a red and white stripe design.

Before the 1974 season, the team built a white prototype helmet, but it was never used. The uniform was altered to silver pants, either black or white jerseys, and black helmets in 1990. In 1997, the white jerseys’ black numbers were replaced with red ones. (In 1990, there was a brief appearance of the red numerals on the away shirts). In 2003, the clothes and the logo were both updated. The falcon in the new logo is more like the capital letter F and has been given crimson and silver highlights to make it appear stronger and fiercer.

The Falcons’ new gear included jerseys and slacks with red trim down the sides, but they continued to wear black helmets. Either black or white pants accompanied either black or white jerseys in the uniform style. The introduction of a red alternate jersey with black trim occurred in the same year. Along with these clothes, the Falcons began donning black cleats.

Both the regular and alternative jerseys, which are both worn with white bottoms, were changed to red and black, respectively, in 2004. The Falcons don black pants and white jerseys for a few of their away games. When playing the New Orleans Saints at home, the Falcons wore an all-black uniform. They won the first two games (24-21 in 2004 and 36-17 in 2005), but lost 31-13 in the third in 2006. 34-14 defeat In Week 2 of 2006, they wore the same combination against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was a 14-3 victory for the Falcons. Against the New York Giants in 2007, the Carolina Panthers in 2008, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009, the Falcons also wore their all-black outfit (for the second time). After that, the black uniforms and pants were discontinued, and the normal uniforms were now worn exclusively with white pants.

Because of the heat in the 1980s, the Falcons spent most of their time at home wearing their white uniforms. The Falcons’ home uniforms were originally dark when they began playing in a dome, but they have since donned their white uniforms on a few occasions.

The Falcons will don throwback uniforms from 1966 for a few games during the 2009 season, it was revealed at the 2009 state of the franchise conference. For two home games in 2009, the Carolina Panthers on September 20 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 29, the Atlanta Falcons wore throwback uniforms from the year 1966. Both matches were victories for the Falcons. In 2010, they wore the throwback attire once more for games against Baltimore and San Francisco, winning both of those contests. Twice each against the Panthers and Saints in 2011 and 2012, the throwbacks were employed. The NFL imposed a regulation in 2013 requiring just one helmet shell per team, which led to the retirement of the throwbacks.

In addition, the Falcons released a mixed throwback uniform collection in 2016. Their 1960s kits were very similar to the uniform tops, bottoms, and socks. The Falcons used black helmets with the original logo sticker from 2016 through 2021 as a result of the NFL’s one-shell rule, which was a throwback to their 1990s look. The Falcons brought back the original red helmets to go with their throwback outfits starting in 2022 though, since the NFL has now reinstated the usage of alternative helmets.

The Falcons will don new uniforms for the 2020 NFL season, it was announced in January 2020. Following that, black was once again used as the main colour for home uniforms for the first time since 2003. The primary home and away uniforms both had the “ATL” abbreviation in red above either white or black numbers with red drop shadows. The white and black tops are typically worn with black or white slacks. In addition to the “ATL” abbreviation above white numbers with black drop shadows, the alternate uniform included a red/black gradient design. Only wear this outfit with black pants. Red side stripes may be seen on all three uniforms. Additionally, the present vintage attire remained.
