ATP Finals is one of the most fascinating and awaited tennis tournaments worldwide. We all know of seven wonders worldwide, but the eighth wonder is the ATP Finals. It is because the ATP Final consists of the eight best-qualified single players and the doubles team. The ATP Final has a rich cultural and historical background.

  • In 1970, the ATP Finals began and were referred to as “Master Grand Pix.” The tournament consists of the top 8 single players and the top 8 double teams.
  • In 1990, the Master Pix was renamed the ATP Tour World Championship.
  • In 1999, the ITF and the ATP federation discontinued, and the new Tennis Master Cup emerged.
  • Later, in 2009, the title was relabelled as the ATP World Tour Finals, which was held at London O2 Arena.
  • In 2017, it was renowned as the ATP Finals, which holds an essential position in Tennis history.

Criteria

If a player wants to get qualified, they need to meet the following criteria.

  1. The top seven players get qualified automatically.
  2. The player who wins the Grand Slam at present will be spotted for the 8th position.
  3. If many players win the Grand Slam in the current year, they will be ranked from 8th – 20th position, and the player with the highest ranking will be qualified.
  4. If no player wins the Grand Slam, the player in the 8th position will be awarded the qualification.

ATP Finals – 2022

This year 2022, the ATP Final will be held in Milan in Italy at the Allianz Cloud Arena. The tournament is commencing on November 8th-20th. It is one of the finest men’s tournaments for the best singles and doubles under age 21. Five players have already qualified, including the three Grand Slam Winners of 2022.
