In his return to the Test game after a long gap between games, Pakistan’s Babar Azam scored an amazing 50 runs against Bangladesh thus proving he is a quality player under adversity. Babar Azam is now captured in World Test Championship history books like the great Australian batting player Steve Smith for his play during that match.

After suffering an unexpected loss in the first Test of the series in Dhaka, Pakistan found themselves going into the 2nd Test match in a very low state of confidence and dropped to eighth place in the WTC rankings as a result of their first Test defeat. To complicate matters even further, they were penalized eight points for maintaining a slow over-rate in their first Test.

Babar Azam achieved a significant milestone during the ICC World Test Championship with an impressive half-century. With his latest fifty, Babar Azam is now tied with Steve Smith for the most half-centuries (20) in WTC history.

Babar Azam and Steve Smith have the third most 50-plus scores in the WTC, behind only Joe Root of England and Marnus Labuschagne of Australia.

Babar Azam is also the first Asian player in WTC history to reach 20 half-centuries, solidifying his position as one of the greats in modern Test cricket.

Nahid Rana Ends Babar Azam’s Brilliant Innings

Nahid Rana, the Bangladesh fast bowler who dominated the Pakistan batsmen in the first Test, came to the rescue again in the second Test when he provided one of Bangladesh’s most important bowling changes.

The match was poised for a long time until Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha started putting together a valuable partnership when Nahid Rana returned after bowling his initial spell and removed the Pakistan superstar.

Babar looked to be on the verge of scoring a century before he had to walk after an outstanding knock which kept Pakistan firmly in the game.
