India Tour Of Bangladesh: Official Confirmation Still Awaiting

BAN vs IND: BCCI Still Waiting To Confirm Bangladesh Series By Goverment

The India-Bangladesh tour, comprising three ODIs and three T20Is, was set to get underway on August 17 with games scheduled in Mirpur and Chattogram. Yet Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam has gone on record to say that the BCCI has not given official sanction yet.

“I have already talked to the BCCI. The talks have been good,” Aminul said. “We are optimistic. The tour is finalized, but the BCCI is awaiting some internal decisions.”

BCCI Waits on Final Call Over BAN vs IND Series

The BCCI reportedly stated that the tour could not take place during the present window, but expressed interest in rescheduling it if necessary. As per Aminul:

“If India, for some reason, cannot come in August, they will consider the next possible window. The BCCI has been cooperative and professional throughout.”

Though optimistic words have flowed from the Bangladesh camp, there’s a growing fear that political pressures from outside may put the decision in jeopardy.

Controversial Remarks May Lead to Tour Cancellation

One reason cited for the delay is tense political relations between the nations. Last May, tensions mounted after inflammatory comments by Maj Gen (retired) ALM Fazlur Rahman, a retired Bangladeshi army officer.

In a now-viral Facebook update, Rahman wrote:

“If India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy the seven states of North-East India… There should be discussions around forming a joint military system with China.”

This incendiary remark has allegedly caused Indian circles to turn against it, with various media outlets indicating that BCCI could think of withdrawing from the BAN vs IND series as a consequence.

BCCI Keeps Mum in the Wake of Political Unrest

Although no statement has been issued by the BCCI on the incident or about it as a reason, an insider indicated to the Times of India:

“The tour is scheduled on the second half of the calendar, but nothing is confirmed yet. There is a strong chance that India won’t tour Bangladesh for ODIs and T20Is given the prevailing circumstances.”

This statement has only added to the speculation that diplomatic restlessness could be affecting cricketing choices behind the scenes.

What’s Next for BAN vs IND 2025 Series?

As August draws near, doubt still casts a shadow over the BAN vs IND 2025 series. Both countries’ fans are waiting for the BCCI to officially announce at any time soon.

If the tour is called off or postponed, the two boards will consider alternative windows towards the latter part of the year, subject to schedules and global commitments of the teams.

Cricket or Conflict?

The BAN vs IND cricket series is not merely a bilateral sporting competition, it’s a demonstration of regional collaboration and diplomacy. Though the BCCI is yet to announce participation, ongoing talks hold promise. As things unfold, spectators and stakeholders will be keenly observing to see if cricket again manages to overcome politics.
