A spectacular bowling performance that reduced Afghanistan ‘A’ to just 78 runs was the cornerstone of Bangladesh ‘A’s victory.

Ripon Mondol Sparks Top-Order Collapse

Ripon struck in his opening over, removing Imran Mir with a sharp delivery picked up at backward square.

He continued his destruction, getting rid of Sediqullah Atal and Noor Ul Rahman to leave Afghanistan reeling at 14/3.

Spinners Tighten the Grip

With the top order wiped out, Afghanistan’s hopes rested on Darwish Rasooli and Abdullah Ahmadzai, but Bangladesh’s spinners never allowed momentum to build.

Saqlain and Meherob bowled with great discipline, choking scoring opportunities.

Meherob struck twice in one over, removing Ahmadzai and Kharote, to deepen Afghanistan’s troubles.

Rasooli fought hard but lacked support from the other end.

Rakibul came on to tidy up the lower order, claiming three wickets in a remarkable spell and effectively putting an end to Afghanistan’s collapse.

The innings ended in the 19th over when Bilal Sami was ran out, leaving Bangladesh to chase a modest target of 79 in 40 overs.

Steady Chase as Bangladesh A Comfortably Chased Down the Target

Despite having to chase down a small total Bangladesh A showed some maturity and high class.

Habibur Rahman Sohan and Jishan Alam provided solid starts but fell after a quick impact. Mahidul Ankon and Zawad Abrar then stepped up to build a calm partnership. They rotated strike effectively, capitalized on the weak balls provided and didn’t risk losing their wicket without some sort of reward.

Bangladesh crossed the target comfortably in 13.5 overs to seal the match by eight wickets.

This Bangladesh vs Afghanistan encounter highlighted Bangladesh A’s command in all departments, which are pace, spin, and batting.

This will give them immense confidence in pushing forward into the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025.
